These jello cups are super easy to throw together, and honestly, they’re kind of a showstopper. They’ve got that bright red “bloody” gelatin base, and those eyeballs? Oh honey, they’re made from lychees, grapes, and jelly beans - so they’re weirdly delicious too!
Add these to your Halloween party table, classroom treats (if your kid’s teacher is the fun type), or a creepy movie night snack board. Gory never looked so good!
Ingredients List
- 2 cups water, divided
- 1 (3 oz) package strawberry gelatin
- 12 lychees (canned in syrup is perfect – grab 'em here)
- 12 green grapes
- 12 black or brown jelly beans (I used Jelly Belly licorice for MAX creep factor – these work great)
Tools You’ll Need:
- Measuring cup
- Small saucepan
- Spoon
- Bowl
- 4 clear plastic cups (These are my go-to: sturdy and spooky)
How to Make Bloodshot Bites:
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a small saucepan, then stir in the strawberry gelatin until completely dissolved.

Add 1 cup of cold water to the gelatin and mix well. Pour it into a bowl and chill in the fridge for about 1½ hours - you want it partially set, not fully firm.

While the gelatin chills, make your eyeballs (mwahaha!):
Press a jelly bean into the open end of a grape where the stem was.

Now gently push that grape into a lychee to create the eyeball. (The lychee gives that gross squishy eye texture. It’s disturbingly perfect!)

Grab your clear cups. Add a bit of semi-set gelatin to the bottom of each one.

Place one eyeball into each cup, then layer more gelatin and add two more eyeballs into each. Try to get those eyes floating at different levels for max creepy effect.

Refrigerate the cups for another 2½ to 3 hours until fully set.

Serve chilled, with a wicked grin!
Tips & Tricks:
- Want to crank the horror up to 11? Use blue raspberry gelatin and red food dye to make it look like these eyes are swimming in toxic goo.
- Not a lychee fan? You can use peeled grapes instead—but they don’t look quite as gnarly.
- These are perfect made a day ahead! Just keep them covered in the fridge.
