Can you imagine the look on everyone’s face when you whip these out after the presents are opened and the “I’m-hungry-but-don’t-feed-me-another-sweet-thing” vibe hits? You’ll be the post-gift MVP! Plus, if the kiddos are still buzzing from Santa excitement, they can totally help assemble. It’s a snack and an activity - hello multitasking!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 4 slices of bread (any kind you love—just nothing too soft)
- 10 slices of salami (or whatever deli meat you like!)
- 6 slices of cheddar cheese (I used Sargento slices - delish and easy to cut!)
- 24 small pieces of lettuce (Spring Mix from Walmart is perfect)
- 1 block of white cheddar cheese (cut a 2x2" cube about 1½ inches thick)

Tools That Make the Magic Happen:
- Star cookie cutters (you’ll use the 3 smallest ones from this set)
- Tiny star cutter (for the little topper star! from this set)
- 4 inch food picks (the kind that won’t break under pressure—these are perfect)
Let’s Build a Snack Tree!
Cut your stars: Using the 3 smallest star cutters, cut two of each size out of your bread, cheddar slices, and salami. Pro tip: stack the ingredients and cut multiple at once to save time!

Make the base: Cut your block of white cheddar into four cubes (about 1 inch each), and use the tiny star cutter to make 4 adorable star toppers out of a ½-inch slice.

Stack it up: Insert your food pick halfway into the cheese cube base. Now start layering!
Layer 1 & 2: Use your largest stars. Go in this order—bread, lettuce, cheese, salami. Rotate each layer slightly so it fans out like tree branches.

Layer 3 & 4: Use the medium stars and repeat the order.

Layer 5 & 6: Use the smallest stars for the final tiers.
Top it off: Gently press your mini cheese star onto the top of the pick. Boom. Tiny tree perfection.

Tara’s Tips & Twinkles:
- Want a low-carb version? Swap the bread for cucumber or bell pepper cutouts!
- Use different cheeses for a pop of color - white cheddar, gouda, or pepper jack all work great.
- If you’re feeling extra, serve them on little slate trays with a sprinkle of rosemary “pine needles” for that Pinterest-worthy vibe.
Christmas Tree Sandwiches
These Christmas Tree Sandwiches are such a fun and festive idea for a holiday snack! Layered with bread, cheese, meat, and fresh greens, they’re stacked into adorable tree shapes topped with a star-cut cheese slice.
Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread
- 10 slices of salami lunch meat
- 6 slices of cheddar cheese (I used Sargento slices)
- 24 small pieces of lettuce - I used the Spring Mix from Walmart
- 2x2 inch x 1 ½ inch thick piece of white cheddar cheese off the block
Instructions
- Use the star cutters to make shapes for the sandwiches. For the bread, cheese and salami, you will need 2 of each size of the 3 stars from the cookie cutter package for each sandwich. (The smallest star from the other shape cutter will be used in a different step.) You will have to get creative and use the cutters as they fit. The process images help show a visual.
- Cut the cheese black so you have a 1 inch and a ½ inch thick block of cheese.
- Use the tiny star cutter from the fruit cutter set to cut 4 stars out of the ½ inch block. Cut the 1 inch block into 4 cubes.
- To assemble your sandwiches, poke the food pick about halfway into a cube of cheese.
- Now make your first layer. You will use the largest star cutouts for this layer. The order of the layer will be: bread, lettuce, cheese, salami. Slightly alternated the star points of each ingredient, to make it look more tree-like. Repeat this for the second layer.
- Now your third and fourth layers will use the middle size star cutouts, so repeat the previous step with that size.
- Your first and sixth layers will use the small star cutouts, same steps as before.
- Finally, top the tree with the ½ inch thick tiny star cheese.
