DIY Mixed Media Background Papers From Your Stash

I recently took on a super fun project where I made a bunch of cool art papers, and I filmed the whole thing to share with you. It was a blast, and I'm here to tell you all about it, hoping to get you excited to try something similar.

Digging Through My Craft Stuff

So, I started by looking through all my art supplies at home. It was like going on a treasure hunt in my own room. I found all sorts of stuff I could use, like pages from old magazines, colorful tissue paper, and bits and pieces from past projects.

It was awesome to see what I had lying around that could turn into something new!

Getting Started with the Fun Part

With all my found treasures, I got down to the fun part: sticking them all together to make new art papers. I wasn't trying to make everything perfect.

Instead, I just wanted to have a good time with it. I used Mod Podge (it's like glue but cooler) to stick everything onto paper in a way that looked good to me. Mixing and matching all these different bits was the best part.

As I added more stuff, each piece started to look really unique. Some bits I left just as they were, so they could soak up any paint I might add later.

Others, I covered up with Mod Podge to keep their colors bright. Deciding what to do as I went along was really fun.

Loving the Mess

One of the coolest things I learned was to love the mess. All the wrinkles, tears, and little oops moments actually made my papers look even cooler.

It was a great reminder that when you're making art, sometimes the unplanned stuff turns out to be the best.

Showing Off the Results

After a while, I had a whole bunch of these homemade art papers, each one different and special in its own way.

It was so cool to see how a bunch of ordinary things could come together to make something really neat.

What's Coming Up

Finishing this part got me really excited for what I could do next.

I'm thinking about adding some paint to these papers to see how they can change even more. I can't wait to get started on that.

Wrapping It Up

Sharing this project with you has been so much fun. It's a reminder of how awesome it is to just play around and see what happens, without worrying too much about the end result.

Whether you've been making art for a long time or you're just starting out, I hope this inspires you to grab some glue and whatever you have around and just go for it. It's all about having fun and seeing where your creativity takes you.

If you're curious to see how I did it, check out the video. Let's get into making some art that's all our own. Happy creating!
