These Worms and Dirt Cupcakes are the ultimate no-stress, crowd-pleasing treat - perfect for Halloween parties, classroom goodies, or just a fun afternoon snack when you want to channel your inner spooky queen!

One of my favorite things about these cupcakes? You absolutely don’t have to bake a single thing if you don’t want to. Grab some ready-made chocolate cupcakes from the store, slather on your frosting, and get to decorating. It's all about the vibe, not the sweat!
These sweet little monsters are layered with rich chocolate frosting, crunchy “dirt” made from crushed Oreos, and wriggly gummy worms that are equal parts cute and creepy. They're fun, messy, and guaranteed to make kids giggle and adults smile. Honestly, if you can frost a cupcake and drop a gummy worm on top, you're already a spooky season snack queen!
Ingredients:
- 6 chocolate cupcakes (store-bought or homemade - no judgment here!)
- 1 cup chocolate frosting
- 2–3 tablespoon crushed Oreo cookies (aka the dirt!)
- 14 gummy worms (a mix of whole + cut in half for max worm drama)

You’ll Also Need:
- Piping bag with a 1M tip (or just spread it on with a butter knife if you’re going rustic - I won’t tell!)
Directions:
Load up your piping bag with chocolate frosting and swirl it onto each cupcake like a fancy bakery witch.

Sprinkle crushed Oreos over the frosting like fresh cemetery soil.

Cut a few gummy worms in half so it looks like they’re crawling out of the dirt (mwahaha!)

Gently press the worms, both whole and halved, into the frosting so they look like they’re slithering through the cupcake garden of doom.

Serve immediately or store in the fridge until ready to creep people out!
Tara’s Tips & Twists:
- Make it even easier: No piping bag? No problem! Just grab a Ziploc, snip a corner, and fake it like a frosting pro.
- Want to level it up? Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup or edible glitter for a little extra drama.
- Make it allergy-friendly: Use gluten-free cupcakes and allergy-friendly gummy worms for a spooky treat everyone can enjoy!
- Double the fun: This recipe is for 6, but it easily doubles or triples if you’re feeding a monster mob.
