Why Did I Make These?

Okay so here's a little peek into my brain - I am absolutely, completely, unapologetically obsessed with cabinets of curiosity. You know those old Victorian collections of weird and wonderful objects? Sculpted creatures, strange artifacts, mysterious oddities all displayed together in beautiful chaos? Yes. THAT. I could spend hours down a rabbit hole of vintage curiosity cabinet imagery and honestly I have zero regrets about it.

When I sat down to make this set, I didn't want to just make pretty pages. Pretty is great - I love pretty! - but I wanted to make pages that made you think. Pages where you look at them and your brain starts spinning a story. Why is that elephant in a suit reading a book? Where is that woman in the balloon-bicycle contraption going? What is that poodle lady's whole deal and why does she have a cat in a basket?

I hunted down the most delightfully strange vintage images I could find, layered them with roses and postal ephemera and rich textures, and basically just let my weird flag fly. I hope they spark something in your imagination the way they sparked something in mine!

For this set I used public domain images from the Graphics Fairy and my own creativity!

Why Are They Free?

Here's the thing - I genuinely believe that creativity should be accessible to everyone, and that the crafting community is one of the most generous, supportive communities out there. Sharing free printables is my way of giving back to the community that has given me so much joy and inspiration!

These freebies also help me grow this little corner of the internet, which means I get to keep making more weird and wonderful things for you! The best way you can support me is by joining the free library, sharing this post with your crafty friends, saving it to Pinterest, and just generally spreading the Artsy Fartsy love. It means the absolute world to me!

How to Print Them Out

To get the best results from your Enchanted Oddities pages, here are my top printing tips:

  • Paper: I recommend printing on cardstock (65lb) for sturdy journal pages that hold up beautifully to glue and layering. For a softer, more photographic finish, matte photo paper is gorgeous with these rich jewel tones.
  • Printer Settings: Set your printer to "actual size" or 100% scale - do not scale to fit, as this can crop those beautiful edges! Print at the highest quality setting your printer offers for the richest colors.
  • Cutting: These pages are designed to be used whole OR cut apart for collage elements. Grab your paper trimmer for clean edges, or use scissors and cut a little wonky on purpose - that raw torn edge is chef's kiss for junk journaling.
  • Distressing: Want that extra aged look? Lightly sand the edges with fine sandpaper, then run a brown or black ink pad along the borders. It gives these Victorian beauties that perfectly worn, found-in-an-attic feel. 🎪
  • Lamination: A few of these images would make stunning laminated bookmarks or tags - just saying!
