The smell of Marriott Hotels is so darn classy and clean! Well, I'm completely obsessed, and I finally decided to try and recreate a dupe at home using essential oils.

I used to travel a lot as a public speaker and stayed at multiple hotels! One of my favorite places to stay was Marriott Hotels because they smelled great to me!
I'll admit, I was a little intimidated at first. Could I really capture that complex fragrance with just a few oils? But with a little research and some trial and error, I think I nailed it!
The Inspiration:
The Marriott scent is a blend of “pure fresh grapefruit and crisp red currant” with a lingering base of oakmoss. This gave me a great starting point for my DIY project.
Marriott Dupe Essential Oil Recipe
Top Notes:
- Grapefruit essential oil (lots of it! This is the star of the show)
- Red Currant essential oil (surprisingly, I found this one easily online)
Base Note:
- Oakmoss essential oil (earthy and grounding)
The Blend
(This is for my diffuser, but you can adjust the amounts depending on your needs)
- 10 drops Grapefruit essential oil
- 5 drops Red Currant essential oil
- 3 drops Oakmoss essential oil
How to Use
Just add the oils to your diffuser with water, and voila! Your home will be filled with the refreshing scent of the Marriott!
My Thoughts
I was honestly amazed at how close this came to the actual Marriott scent. The grapefruit is bright and zesty, the red currant adds a touch of sweetness, and the oakmoss gives it that lingering depth. It's incredibly refreshing and instantly puts me in a good mood!
Extra Touches
To really enhance the bougie vibe, I like to:
- Dim the lights and light a few candles.
- Curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.
- Play some ambient rain sounds.
- It's like having my own personal spa day at home!
