If you are looking for a sweet treat for movie night or a fun snack for the kiddos in your life, this is a great candy popcorn recipe to try!

Red & Pink Candy Coated Popcorn Recipe With M&Ms

I'm the kind of person who loves a good themed treat! Whether it's a holiday or just a fun excuse to add some extra color to the day, a touch of festivity makes everything more enjoyable!

Lately, I've been feeling inspired by all the soft pinks and vibrant reds popping up and knowing how my Granddaughter Emmy loves pink SO MUCH!

That got me brainstorming – what could I make that's simple, delicious, and perfect for sharing?

Salty-sweet popcorn gets a vibrant makeover with melted white chocolate and a generous dose of colorful candies. You'll love how easy it is to customize for any occasion by switching up the colors!

What You'll Need

  • 6 cups popped popcorn, plain (feel free to pop your own popcorn in an air popper or use microwave popcorn, but I like the ease of a pre-popped bag… and I am a salt and sweety gal so I get salted popcorn to make it extra delicious!)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups marshmallows
  • ½ cup red candy melts
  • ½ cup pink candy melts
  • ½ cup Valentine's M&Ms
  • ¼ cup jumbo heart sprinkles

Directions – Let's Get Poppin' (printable recipe below!)

Prep work: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread your popcorn over the paper.

Marshmallow magic: Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir frequently until they're completely melted and gooey for the candy coating.

Valentine's Popcorn with Candy Melts

Popcorn coating: Drizzle the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn, toss it gently, then spread it back out on the baking sheet.

Chocolate drizzle: Melt the candy melts. I find it easiest to put them in pastry bags and snip off a tiny corner of the bag for the best control when drizzling.

Red & Pink M&M Popcorn

Candy time! Sprinkle the M&Ms and those adorable heart sprinkles all over the popcorn.

Set it up: Pop the baking sheet into the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. This lets the chocolate and marshmallow firm up.

Enjoy! Break the popcorn into pieces, serve in a large bowl and munch away or serve in 8 small single serving bowls. It will last a couple of days in an airtight container depending on personal consumption levels!

Mix it Up! Customizing for Any Occasion

The best part about this Red & Pink Candy Coated Popcorn recipe is how easily it transforms for any holiday or occasion. Here's how to swap the colors and candies for tons of festive fun:

  • National Popcorn Day (Jan 19): What would be better than crunchy popcorn fun for the whole family for this made up holiday… it is a great excuse to make this great treat!
  • Valentines Day: OF COURSE, this red and pink candied popcorn is the perfect treat for your Valentine's Day sweetheart!
  • Spring: Switch out the red and pink melts for pastel colors like green, yellow, and light blue. Instead of hearts, use flower sprinkles or pastel-colored M&Ms. Perfect for Easter or a spring celebration!
  • Summer: Choose vibrant colors like turquoise, orange, and yellow. Add fun sprinkles like mini beach balls or gummy fish for a perfect summer-themed treat.
  • Fall: Go warm and cozy with orange, yellow, and brown candy melts. Sprinkle on some candy corn and chocolate chips for a tasty autumn twist.
  • Halloween: Stick with orange, but add purple or bright green melts for a spooky vibe. Toss in candy eyeballs and sprinkles shaped like bats or pumpkins.
  • Christmas Season: Red and green are the classics, of course! But you could also do Christmas popcorn with white melts with red and green M&Ms mixed in and some festive sprinkles.

Beyond the Holidays

  • Birthday Party: Match the melted chocolate colors to the birthday person's favorite colors. Use sprinkles that reflect their interests – dinosaur popcorn, unicorn popcorn, whatever makes them smile!
  • Baby Shower: Pastels galore! Use pink and blue, yellow and green, or any combination the parents-to-be would love.
  • Team Spirit: Support your favorite sports team on game day with a popcorn mix in their colors. Add sprinkles with sports themes or colored candies that match.

The possibilities are endless! Let your imagination run wild and have fun making this treat your own.

Red and Pink Candied Popcorn Wrapup

The first time I made this for my Granddaughter she said it was unicorn popcorn (actually she said it was UNI-corn popcorn… she says it so cute!) It has become one of her favorite snacks to have at Grandberry's house!

Adding the candy flavoring on top of the popcorn is not the most diet friendly treat, but dang it does elevate plain old homemade popcorn into something magical and delicious!

Take your plain old, regular popcorn and tart it up with all different colors to match any occasion!
