Candied Bacon Twists are like the unicorn of appetizers. They're sweet, salty, crispy, chewy, and you just can’t stop at one. I mean, it’s bacon - but make it fancy!

Even better? You can totally make these low carb or keto-friendly with sugar-free brown sweetener and maple syrup. So whether you’re living that carb-conscious life or just want something wildly addictive to nibble on, these have your name all over them.
I’ve made these for brunch spreads, charcuterie boards, holiday parties, and yep - even just because it was Tuesday. They're super simple to make, no fancy kitchen gadgets needed, and they look way more impressive than the effort it takes. We love that!
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 10 slices of bacon
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup maple syrup
(Use sugar-free versions of both for a low carb/keto-friendly option)

You’ll Also Need:
- A baking sheet
- Parchment paper or tinfoil
- Small bowl
- Spoon or basting brush
Let’s Do This:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper or foil - trust me, cleanup is way easier this way!
Lay out your bacon strips on the baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and maple syrup until it’s a sweet, sticky glaze.

Brush that sugary goodness over both sides of each bacon slice.

Now for the twist! Literally. Tightly twist each bacon slice and lay it back down on the sheet.

Pop them in the oven and bake for 30–40 minutes, flipping them every 10 minutes so they cook evenly and caramelize beautifully.

Once they’re done, let them cool for 10 minutes - if you can wait that long. They’ll crisp up a bit more as they sit.
Tara’s Tips & Twists:
- Bacon Thickness Matters: Go for regular cut - thick-cut can be a bit tricky to twist and takes longer to crisp.
- Get Fancy: Add a tiny pinch of cayenne or black pepper to the glaze for a sweet-heat vibe.
- Serving Ideas: These are FAB for brunch, but also amazing crumbled over salads, baked sweet potatoes, or even a bowl of vanilla ice cream if you're feeling wild.
- Make Ahead: You can make them the night before and warm them up in the oven at 300°F for about 5 minutes. Still crisp. Still perfect.
Low Carb? No Problem!
I’ve tested these with Lakanto Golden and ChocZero maple syrup and let me tell you - you'd never know they’re sugar-free. So go ahead and snack without the sugar crash!
