Why Did I Make These?
It all started with a blog post I wrote about 13 nostalgic foods we didn't know were frugal growing up - and a sweet, VERY persistent reader from my email list asked me to turn it into a printable. (You know who you are, and I love you for it!)
Here's the thing though - I didn't know we were poor growing up. I genuinely didn't. Some of these "frugal" foods were just… our favorites. I STILL love cinnamon toast with a fiery, unashamed passion. Buttered toast, a shake of cinnamon sugar, pure joy. And breakfast for dinner?! Don't even get me started - that was a full-on treat night at our house.
My Mom was absolute magic in the kitchen. She always made sure we had something tasty and hearty on the table, even when the ingredients were super simple and super cheap. Looking back now, I realize just how much love and creativity went into every single meal. These printables are my little tribute to her - and to every mama out there who stretches a dollar and makes it absolutely delicious!
Why Are They Free?
Because creativity should be accessible to everyone - just like a good bowl of rice pudding! I believe in building a community of makers, dreamers, and journalers who lift each other up, and free printables are my favorite way to do that.
If these make you smile, the best way to say thank you is to share them with a crafty friend, pin them on Pinterest, or hop on my email list so you never miss a new freebie. It truly means the world and keeps this little creative corner of the internet alive and thriving!
For this set I used my own prompts and Ideogram.ai to make AI images.
How to Print Them Out
For the best results, here are my top printing tips:
- Paper: Cardstock (65 lb or 80 lb) gives a sturdy, professional feel. Matte photo paper also works beautifully, especially for the illustrated comic-style sheets.
- Printer Settings: Set to "Best" or "High Quality" and make sure "fit to page" scaling is turned OFF so they print at full size.
- Scaling: Print at 100% for full-size sheets, or scale down to 50–75% to create smaller tags and ephemera pieces.
- Cutting: A paper trimmer gives clean edges, but scissors with a slightly wobbly hand give that perfectly imperfect handmade look!
- Distressing: Ink the edges with a brown or black ink pad for an aged, vintage feel. Chef's kiss. 🤌
- Optional: Laminate them to make bookmarks, gift tags, or reusable planner pieces!
Commercial License for Printing
Great news for all my maker friends and small business owners! These printables come with a print-first commercial license, which means you are absolutely welcome to print them and use them in products you sell - think handmade junk journals on Etsy, paper ephemera packs at craft fairs, or mixed media art pieces.
The license covers printed products only. There is no license to use these as digital products or for print-on-demand (POD) services. So print them up, create something beautiful, and sell with confidence! 🎉
