If your holiday season isn’t complete without at least 15 viewings of The Grinch (specifically the gloriously chaotic Jim Carrey version), then this Grinch Jello is about to become your new favorite festive tradition! Bright, cheerful, and just a little mischievous - this sweet treat is a total showstopper that’s as much fun to make as it is to eat. Well… some of it anyway!

At our house, this dessert is basically Grinch-approved. My granddaughters - who are obsessed with the movie - immediately squealed, “It’s the Grinch!” when they saw it! And honestly? That’s the highest praise a dessert can get around here. They weren’t sold on the green jello (can’t win 'em all), but they devoured the whipped topping and those adorable little red hearts. Honestly, watching them carefully pick off the sweet hearts and giggle felt like a scene straight out of Whoville!
Whether you’re making this for a school party, holiday movie night, or just because it’s Tuesday and the Grinch is on again (no shame in that game), this fun and easy dessert is pure Christmas magic!
Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 3 oz green lime gelatin
- 3 oz red cherry gelatin
- 4 cups water
- 8 oz whipped topping, thawed

Kitchen Tools:
- Measuring cup
- 2 small saucepans
- 2 spoons
- 9x13 inch baking dish
- 1 qt glass baking dish
- Piping bag with a round tip (like this)
- Heart cutter (so cute!)
Instructions:
Boil 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Add the green lime gelatin, stir for a solid 3 minutes until totally dissolved, then stir in 1 cup of cold water. Pour this Grinchy goodness into your glass baking dish and pop it in the fridge for 3 hours, until firm.
In a separate saucepan, repeat the process with the red cherry gelatin: 1 cup boiling water + gelatin + 3-minute stir + 1 cup cold water. Pour into a 9x13 inch dish and refrigerate for 3 hours too.

Once the green gelatin is set, add your thawed whipped topping to a piping bag with a round tip and pipe little snowy dots all over the top. Stick it back in the fridge for 1 hour to let the topping firm up.

Now for the fun part: cut hearts (three sizes too small?) out of the red gelatin using your heart cutter. Gently place them on top of the whipped topping like festive little love notes.

Serve and enjoy! Or if you're my granddaughters, just eat the hearts and fluff, and leave the green behind!

Tara’s Tips & Twists:
- Not a lime fan? Swap the green jello for green apple or even pineapple for a tropical twist!
- Add a sprinkle of edible glitter or festive sprinkles to the whipped topping for extra sparkle.
- Want to make it more Grinchy? Add a mini candy cane “staff” or green sugar crystal sprinkle around the edges!
