Why I Wrote This Post
I LOVE having gizmos in my altered books and flip out pages are a great way to add interest and extra space to put more features!
I have made SO MANY altered books and figured out some things along the way that I thought could be practical tips to share with you today!
Materials Needed
- An altered book
- Decorative paper or cardstock
- Adhesive (glue stick or double-sided tape)
- Scissors or a paper trimmer
- Fabric tape
- Grommets and jump rings
Steps for fabric tape flip out:
Select the Page: Choose a page in your altered book where you want to add the flip-out. Ensure it's sturdy enough to support the additional paper.
Prepare the Flip-Out Page: Cut a piece of decorative paper or cardstock to the desired size of your flip-out. The width should be slightly less than the book's page width to allow for easy folding. I used a Scrapbook.com tape runner to stick the pocket together!
Create a Hinge: On the edge of the flip-out page that will attach to the book, use fabric tape to attach the extra flap (easiest way!) Leave a small space between the two pages.
Steps for grommet and jump ring flip out:
Follow the above steps of selecting a page and preparing the flip out page. Use a Cropadile to punch holes in the papers: You could use the manual way of doing grommets but I LOVE a cropadile!
Add a jump ring to attach the pages together: If they are cheap you can use your fingers, if they are good ones like Tim Holtz jump rings then you will need two sets of pliers!
