Why Did I Make These?
This printable came straight from the community! I had asked what you'd love to see next, and one of the gals said she'd be so excited for a Steamboat Willie set - especially with Mickey and Minnie. That was all I needed!
I pulled up the original 1928 short film, watched the whole thing (more than once!), took some stills, and then hand-drew and hand-colored each piece using Procreate. Drawing on the iPad feels just like those collage-and-doodle journals I used to make from old magazines - pure joy!
If you’ve got a request or idea for a future printable, don’t be shy - you can always email me ([email protected]). I love creating what you want to see!
Why Are They Free?
I share these for free because this project lights me up. It's all about making playful, nostalgic art accessible - whether you’re crafting, journaling, or just love that old-school animation charm.
If something I’ve made adds even a little creativity to your day, then I’m doing exactly what I set out to do.
How to Print Them Out
To get the best results with these Classic Toon Treasures:
- Use matte cardstock or sticker paper if you're journaling or collaging.
- Select high-quality or photo mode in your printer settings to keep those bold vintage colors vivid.
- These are formatted as standard 8.5x11" pages - perfect for at-home printing, cutting, and playing!
Personal License for Printing
Because of the nature of these images, which are inspired by Steamboat Willie and feature hand-drawn characters like Mickey and Minnie, this printable is for personal use only.
Even though Steamboat Willie entered the public domain on January 1, 2024, the modern Mickey Mouse design is still likely protected by copyright and/or trademark. So while printing for your own projects, journaling, or gifts is absolutely fine, I don't recommend using this set for anything you plan to sell.
How to Download the Free Printable

Quick Copyright Note
Steamboat Willie officially entered the public domain on January 1, 2024. That means the original 1928 animation - including its black-and-white version of Mickey - is free to use.
However, modern versions of Mickey Mouse are still protected by copyright and trademark. And even though this set is inspired by the vintage cartoon, some elements (like the poster-style image) may still be under protection. That’s why this printable is strictly for personal use.
