Why I Wrote This Post
I love being able to make my own soaps and other natural living products! I took a class years ago and found out all about essential oils and the fun properties they have to help with different things you might have going on in your life!
This super simple soap combines the moisturizing benefits of shea butter with the therapeutic qualities of essential oils, creating a perfect blend for a relaxing bath time experience!
Not only do these soaps smell amazing, but their adorable owl shapes will add a touch of whimsy to your bathroom or make wonderful gifts for friends and family!
What You'll Need For This Homemade Essential Oil Soap
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary items:
- Owl Soap Mold: Find it on Amazon for the perfect shape (I got two of these so I didn't have to wait to make the second bar!)
- Microwave-Safe Measuring Cup with Spout: Essential for melting and pouring
- Wooden Craft Stick: For stirring your soap mixture smoothly
Gather your ingredients for two beautiful soap bars:
- ¼ lb Shea Butter Melt and Pour Soap Base
- 7 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
- 15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
- ½ tsp Silk Purple Mica Powder
note: you could use a different essential oil blend if you wanted!
Let's Make Soap!
You are going to love how fast and easy it is to make these essential oils soaps!
Preparation (5 minutes): Start by cutting the soap base into 1-inch cubes. Place these cubes into your measuring cup.
Melting: Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir with your wooden stick. If not fully melted, continue heating in 10-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted.
Scenting: Add your essential oils to the melted soap base, stirring well.
Coloring: Incorporate the silk purple mica powder, mixing thoroughly until the color is even.
Molding: Pour the mixture into your owl mold. Allow it to set for about 1 hour.
Repeating: Follow the steps again to make your second bars of soap.
This project is not only a fun way to spend an afternoon but also results in a product that's both functional and beautiful!
Whether you're looking to pamper yourself or searching for a unique handmade gift, these soap bars are sure to impress. Enjoy the process and the lovely outcome of your new soap-making adventure!
