Easter desserts don't get any easier, or more delicious, than Rice Krispie Treats! This classic treat is a hit with kids of all ages – and let's be honest, adults love them too! Since Easter is just around the corner, I figured I'd add some festive flair to my classic Rice Krispie Treats recipe for a pop of color and fun.
Easy Peasy Easter Upgrade
My original Rice Krispies recipe is simple as can be: gooey marshmallows, some butter, a dash of vanilla if you're feeling fancy, and a whole lot of crispy rice cereal.
For this Easter version, I threw in a handful of festive sprinkles and swapped the regular M&Ms for pastel colors. It's really that simple! Sometimes those small tweaks make a huge difference.
I made these with my grand kids and we had so much fun! They loved the happy colors from the candy and rice krispie cereal was already in my Grandma bags of tricks to give Emmy a treat after gymnastics! (my little ones are not super courageous about trying new things so this was such a great idea for Easter fun for me and the girls!)
How To Make These Krispy Treats (printable recipe down below!)
These are amazing no bake treats that you can whip up in minutes! With just a few ingredients like melted butter, cereal and candies they are perfect for making with little ones!
Ingredients
To make these festive Easter Rice Krispie Treats, you'll need 6 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal for that classic crispy texture. Get a 10-ounce bag of mini marshmallows – those melt beautifully for a gooey, perfect base.
Add richness and help the melting process with 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter (and keep a little extra on hand to grease your spoon or spatula for less sticking).
For the festive touch, you'll want ½ cup of colorful Easter sprinkles and 1 cup of Easter Peanut M&Ms to top everything off.
Equipment
Measuring cup, large saucepan, 9×13 inch pan or baking dish, parchment paper or waxed paper, silicone spoon, large knife, non-stick spray (optional)
Instructions
Start by prepping your 9×13 inch pan – either line it with parchment paper or grease it with butter for easy removal of the treats later (sometimes when I am feeling lazy I use non-stick spray).
In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir often until they've transformed into a smooth, gooey mixture. Now, it's time for the Rice Krispies and sprinkles!
Stir them in thoroughly until everything is evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to your prepared pan. Top it off with Peanut M&M's, gently pressing them into the mixture.
Let it cool completely before cutting into squares and enjoying!
Storage
Keep your treats in an airtight container or wrap in plastic wrap at room temperature. These crispy treats stay fresh and delicious for 2-3 days (if they last that long!)
