Today we are going use old book pages as the background for Winnie the Pooh journal pages! I used the Winnie The Pooh Junk Journal Kit free printables in this project.

Making The Junk Journal Pages

I decided to have (functionally) three junk journal pages, front and back... I am rethinking that and going to bump that up to four because I have too many cute images and tags I want use!

Here are the first few feature pages that I made for Pooh week 1!

Youtube Video Tutorial

Products Used or Referenced In The Video

  • Background papers (you could use the printable background papers from the freebie library... 1880s Webster Dictionary or Children's Second Reader)
  • Pooh cards
  • Pooh journal pages
  • Liquitex matte medium
  • Tiny attacher (mini stapler)

Making The Backgrounds

For this journal, which is based on classic Pooh, the first thing I decided was to glue down old book background papers.

Gluing Down Old Book Pages For The Background

I used Liquitex Matte Medium and paintbrush because I wanted to stick the pages down AND seal them since they are really old and fragile!

Adding The Main Images

I wound up making a number of pages, but the ones with the main images are these!

Winnie The Pooh Walking Through The Forest and Owl Tag

Winnie The Pooh Walking Through The Forest and Owl Tag

When I made this printable I didn't realize Owl was show flying away in the background of the Pooh in the forest picture. I love that I could pair an Owl tag in the tuck spot with this page! This Pooh image and the rest all come from public domain illustrations from the original Pooh books that I colored in my own way!

Tuck spots are simply reinforced corners that you can stick things into! You can back them with cardstock or scrapbook paper.

Piglet At The Door and Pooh Hoarding Honey

Piglet At The Door and Pooh Hoarding Honey

This page is just the start of a junk journal collage! It has two of the vignette images on it and I will be filling in around the border with other kinds of pooh images in the future!

Flip Page With Pooh and Owl In His House

I just LOVE how grumpy owl is in this picture! I had accidentally printed two copies of the Pooh picture so I am going to make that a flip open door with something cool behind it!

Pooh Walking With Piglet and Some Mice Friends

Pooh Walking With Piglet and Some Mice Friends

I love how this page combines the classic Pooh and Piglet friendship with fun little mice at the bottom which were just an added fun part of the detailed illustrations in the Pooh book!

Starting The Winnie The Pooh Junk Journal Wrapup

Okay, that is the first step to making this journal using the free Winnie The Pooh Junk Journal Kit!

I will be using more of the vintage Winnie the Pooh ephemera in the next steps, today was just to get a base laid for the journal and figuring out the main images I would be using!
